New Experience Pilgrims

Whilst we are dedicated walking specialists, we also have another passion: Pilgrimages. Over time, we naturally drifted towards these special journeys, recognising the incredibly rewarding experience that pilgrimages offer to all walkers; and so began New Experience Pilgrims many years ago.

We have been welcoming New Experience Pilgrims on our journeys for over 15 years, ranging from the Camino de Santiago routes through Spain, Portugal and France to the Via Francigena Pilgrimage across Italy to Rome. We believe in providing pilgrimages of the highest standards which we ourselves would be more than happy to embark on. Many people believe they must be religious to embark on a pilgrimage, however there are relatively few pilgrims who walk solely for a religious motivation. Most pilgrims walk the way with a spiritual or intellectual purpose that is not always related to their religion or faith. The pilgrim routes are beautiful and have a unique, welcoming atmosphere which appeals to all walkers.

From initial contact, our unique Pilgrimage experience begins. We will discuss all the travel options and make sure you are happy with every aspect of your journey before you finalise your booking. All that's left is to prepare yourself for this life-changing, personal journey and put one foot in front of the other!

Camino de Santiago

The famous Camino de Santiago, also known as St James' Way and the French Way, is a wonderful 500 miles trail which has been walked by pilgrims for over 1000 years. For most pilgrims, the Camino de Santiago ends at the magnificent Romanesque Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela - reputedly the final resting place of St. James the Apostle, although a further few days of walking takes the pilgrim to 'the end of the earth' at Finisterre with its downward pointing scallop shell signifying the actual ending, and where pilgrims once burned their boots.

Via Francigena

Do you aspire to walk part of the famous Via Francigena on foot? We have created special itineraries allowing you to experience this beautiful pilgrimage taking you into the Eternal City of Rome and its breathtaking Basilica. This ancient pilgrimage, fondly known as the 'Camino to Rome', connects Canterbury to Rome covering 1900km and traversing 4 countries (UK, France, Switzerland and Italy).

As a Pilgrim to Rome you are allowed into parts of the Vatican City no other visitors are permitted to venture and receive your Testimonium at the Basilica (equivalent of the Compostela rewarded on the Camino de Santiago).
