Accommodation

Your hotel is a very important part of your walking holiday; somewhere to enjoy relaxing, sleeping and eating between days of walking. We have chosen hotels in the 2 to 5-star categories for our centred holidays that meet our criteria and, wherever possible, we offer a choice.

On our treks some hotels may be of a lower official grading, but they still meet our requirements. We choose family-owned hotels wherever possible and look for enthusiasm, professionalism, a high standard of customer care and one that will give a friendly welcome to all our clients.

To ensure that you do have a meal in the evening, where possible we arrange for dinner to be included at the hotel (Half Board -in some countries this is known as MAP). If the hotel does not have a restaurant or decides at short notice to close the restaurant for any reason, they are then obliged to make alternative arrangements at a nearby hotel or restaurant for you.

The offer of the evening meal varies from hotel to hotel. Most common and our preferred option is the 'Plat de Jour' where the special menu of the day offered to all restaurant users is used. It is 3 courses, and we prefer you to be offered choice for each course, but this is not always possible. Almost always there is a choice of main course and special dietary meals are always catered for if advised to us in advance. Some hotels insist on giving an allowance on the a la carte menu which we have agreed in advance. The value is set to cover the cost of a typical starter, main course and desert. We review the amount on an annual basis.
