Guilin - Aroma Tea House Hotel (formerly known as Hotel Jingguan Minglou Museum)

With a lakeside setting in a quiet part of Guilin, the small ‘Museum’ hotel offers a very Chinese experience with an air of sophistication. The owners have a great interest in Chinese porcelain and have several rooms of teapots, vases and other artefacts beautifully displayed.

Longji – Ping’an Hotel

Just 20 minute walk from the car-park, the Yao village of Ping’an clings to the hillside and is divided by a small ravine with rushing streams. Red lanterns dangle from every doorway creating a beautiful spectacle after dark. Further up the hillside are viewpoints over the terraces and narrow stone trails lead to other villages in the valley.  Our stay here is at Ping’an Hotel and is a traditional wooden house.  Rooms are furnished in Yao style and are spacious and comfortable with good private shower rooms and balconies.  Their restaurant serves excellent Chinese food as well as a few western dishes and it is possible to eat inside or out on the wooden terrace.

Dazhai/Tiantouzhai – Hotel Jin Keng

This lovely wooden Yao house has fabulous views down the valley and across to the far side of the terraces. 

Yangshuo - Bamboo Leaf Hotel

The Bamboo Leaf Hotel is located a good distance from town for it to be peaceful, but guests may use one of the hotel bicycles or walk into town if they wish. 

All rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable with a great range of facilities including mini bars, arm-chairs, thermostat controlled AC, double glazed sliding window doors and furnished balconies with great views out over the swimming pool and village.

Hotel Bravo was formerly a Holiday Inn and enjoys a pleasant lakeside location.  The hotel is extremely well run and has an international air about it.

Moondance  This is a delightful award-winning escape in a riverside setting surrounded by bamboo and lush vegetation.  The riverside garden is a perfect place to relax with a book after a good days walking.

With just 21 rooms, which are spacious, comfortable and furnished in Chinese style, it is a relaxing and friendly place to stay with every detail considered from slippers to air-conditioning and of course, tea making facilities.  A newly completed restaurant and bar on the top floor offers one of the finest views in Guilin especially at night. Western and Chinese food are served and there is an outside terrace.

This lovely wooden Yao house has fabulous views down the valley and across to the far side of the terraces.  The whole family live here and each have their role to play in making their visitors very happy indeed.  Rooms have polished wood floors and walls and are simple with crisp white quilts and pillows and small shower rooms.  Water is heated by small gas boilers so is fairly reliable.  Only Chinese food is served and it excellent and may be enjoyed inside or out on the terrace where you can watch the world going by on the main trail.

Yangshuo - Bamboo Leaf Hotel

The Bamboo Leaf Hotel is located a good distance from town for it to be peaceful, but guests may use one of the hotel bicycles or walk into town if they wish. 

Outside, there is a large swimming pool with plenty of seating and tables as well as sun loungers. 

All rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable with a great range of facilities including mini bars, arm-chairs, thermostat controlled AC, double glazed sliding window doors and furnished balconies with great views out over the swimming pool and village.

Also offering free tea and coffee facilities in every room as well as a carefully chosen selection of eco-friendly single use toiletries which are 100% biodegradable (even the packaging).

The rooftop restaurant is open all day and offers a varied selection of dishes with a sumptuous breakfast selection of western food so you can start the day with a full stomach! The restaurant offers an open and comfortable environment that compliments our hotel, with a mixture of countryside and traditional design as well as great service.

Dazhai/Tiantouzhai – Panorama Hotel

The hotel is aptly named as the view is simply stunning from this newly built hotel high above the terraces. The original hotel was destroyed by a fire several years ago and the new Panorama has been built of wood and stone in a modern style. Rooms are large with huge bamboo beds and soft luxurious bedding.  Bathrooms match the standard with walk in showers though hot water may be erratic. The inside restaurant also has spectacular views and one can watch the chefs at work in the kitchen. Only Chinese food is served and the standard is excellent with often limited supplies. At the time of writing in Spring 2013, one section of the hotel remains under construction but has little effect on the open section.

Yangshuo - Moondance

This is a delightful award-winning escape in a riverside setting. Cozy, spacious rooms offer huge, soft beds and both bath and shower in bathrooms with a view. The restaurant is simple but the food served is superb with a choice of Chinese and Western. There is a delightful sitting area overlooking the river with comfy sofas where you can relax with a book after a good days walking. You can also while away time in the garden and simply watch the world go by or take a dip in the pool (seasonal) to cool off. Wi-fi throughout. Tea/coffee facilities in the room as well as TV, robes and slippers.
