Salzkammergut - 10 Lakes

The hotels are mostly small family run hotels. All rooms have private bathroom, mostly with showers. You will be assured of dinner (if half board option taken) with local specialities and buffet continental breakfasts.

We have personally stayed in or visited all of our accommodations. They have all been selected for their great locations, friendly atmosphere and traditional hospitality, as well as the warm welcome they offer to walkers. Below is a summary of our usual accommodations*.

On this trek, the accommodations are mostly small and family-run, all rooms have a private bathroom.

Nights 1, 2 & 9: Fuschl am See

Located in in the centre of town, this small hotel has just 11 rooms, most of which have a balcony. Breakfast and dinner are taken in the 4* hotel next door which owns (but not manages) the hotel you are staying in. You are also free to use this hotel’s facilities.

All rooms feature free Wi-Fi, television, telephone and private bathroom with WC, shower, bath and hairdryer.

Night 3: Mondsee

Tonight, you stay in a converted farm-house with 13 rooms, some featuring a balcony. The owners speak good English and will provide a hearty breakfast, dinner is taken in a nearby hotel. There is also a seasonal outdoor swimming pool.

All rooms feature free Wi-Fi, television, telephone and private bathroom with WC, shower/bath and hairdryer.

Night 4: Abersee

Located near to Lake Wofgang, this family run 3* hotel has its own lakeside bathing area, most rooms also feature a balcony. Enjoy hearty Austrian food in the restaurant or on the terrace surrounded by their lush gardens.

All rooms feature free Wi-Fi, television, telephone and private bathroom with WC, bath/shower and hairdryer. 

Night 5: Bad Ischl

Centrally located, this family run 3* hotel features an on-site sauna, relaxing terrace and also offers bicycle hire. Even Emperor Franz Josef Bad Ischl selected this place as his holiday home.

All rooms feature free Wi-Fi, television, telephone and private bathroom with WC, bath/shower and hairdryer. 

Night 6: Altaussee

Situated close to Lake Altaussee, this 3* hotel is family run by a mixed Polish and English couple. There are 21 rooms which all have a balcony with stunning lake or mountain views. Breakfast is taken in the hotel and dinner is taken in a nearby restaurant. 

All rooms feature free Wi-Fi, television, telephone and private bathroom with WC, bath/shower and hairdryer. 

Nights 7 & 8: Hallstatt

Close to the shore of Lake Hallstatt, this lovely hotel features a small spa area with a hot tub and sauna. The well-equipped rooms are very comfortable, some have balconies with lake views.

We will always endeavour to use the accommodations detailed above. Occasionally, due to limited availability or refurbishments, we may have to accommodate you into alternative accommodations which are not listed in the above description. If those listed are unavailable, the alternative accommodation will be of the same or better standard than those described.
