We determine whether a walk/trek is easy, moderate or challening based on the below explanations.
It is important to know that the calculations made to work out the ascent, descent and distance figures are from our own GPS tracks.
We take into account all accumilative ascents and descents over each walk, every rise or fall over 10m.
Easy
Predominantly on good paths and undemanding terrain.
These walks will typically have a daily average of under 500m ascent and descent and a daily distance of 8 miles.

Easy to Moderate
These walks are the same as easy walking but may have a couple of specific walks or days which fall into the moderate category.

Moderate
Paths of good quality with variably even terrain.
These walks will typically have a daily average of between 500m-700m ascent and descent and daily distance of 10 miles.

Moderate to Challening
These walks are the same as moderate walking, but may have couple of specific walks or days which fall into the moderate category.

Challening
Routes may go through remote areas with no transport links and few exposed sections.
These walks will typically have a daily average of over 700m ascent and descent and a daily distance of over 10 miles.
